Description

The Baptist Chapel, built in 1876, features a Norman style and a cruciform plan. Constructed from rubble with slate roofs and coped verges, the gable facing the street showcases an octofoil wheel window with a quatrefoil center, surrounded by lozenge decoration, and is supported by clasping buttresses on either side. The gable verge has toothed coping. The central arched door is adorned with a ball-work string and is flanked by pairs of lancet windows with dog-tooth surrounds. The returns have modillion eaves cornices, and there is a lean-to on the northern return that provides access to the gallery, along with arched windows. A schoolroom is located at the rear of the chapel.

In front of the chapel, the gate piers have reversed scallop capital tops and toothed moulding at the necking. The flanking boundary walls are approximately 4 feet 6 inches high and are topped with short cast-iron railings. The interior is spacious and follows the cruciform plan.
