Description
This barn, dating from the 18th century and built in two phases, is located approximately 30 meters north-east of Pegglesworth Home Farm. It is constructed from coursed squared and dressed limestone, topped with a stone slate roof. The barn has a rectangular plan and features two projecting porches on the south side, each with lean-to extensions on either side. There are open-fronted outbuildings extending forward on the right, which are not of special interest.
The projecting porches on the south side have cheeks that are brought forward. There are two stable-type doors located in the lean-to extension to the left of the left-hand porch, and double doors facing the projecting porches. A blocked segmental-headed window is found in the left gable end, along with a ventilation slit. The roofs of the extensions to the porches are half-hipped, and there is flat gable-end coping.
Inside, the left-hand barn contains three bays with original trusses featuring a tie beam and an arch-braced collar, as well as a blocked pitching window in the former gable end. The right-hand barn also has original trusses similar to those in the earlier part, but lacks bracing on the collar.
