Description
Rossley Manor is a former farmhouse that later became a country club and is now a house. It dates from the 16th century with some 20th-century alterations. The building features coursed squared and dressed limestone and brick, topped with a stone slate roof and ashlar stacks. The main body of the manor is 'L'-shaped, typical of 16th-century design, with several Cotswold-style gables added in the 20th century, particularly on the west and east sides. There is a large 20th-century extension that incorporates a courtyard on the north side. The manor is mostly two storeys high, with a south-facing facade that retains much of its original appearance, although there are 20th-century extensions at the right-hand end.
The facade includes a 19th-century studded plank door located off-centre to the left. The windows are irregularly arranged, featuring mostly one, two, three, and four-light stone mullioned casements with stopped hoods and leaded panes. The main entrance is on the east side, where there is a two-storey 20th-century gabled porch that includes a plank door with cover strips set within a 'Tudor'-arched surround with bag stops. Above the porch is the coat of arms of Coxwell-Rogers, flanked by two-storey gables on either side. Inside, the manor has close-studded timber-framed partition walls.
