Description
The Hooper Memorial is a chest tomb located about 6 meters west of the north-west path and 5 meters from the path crossing in the churchyard of the Church of St. Mary in Tetbury. It commemorates William Hooper, who died in 1777, along with others. The tomb is made of limestone and features a flat top with a bronze plaque. It has a moulded plinth and capping, with plain end panels that include a shallow recessed oval on the east side and a rectangle with quadrant corners on the west side. The long panels are divided into three sections by a long horizontal moulding near the base and a central vertical moulding extending down to the horizontal moulding. The memorial is badly damaged in the north-west corner. An early 19th-century bronze inscription panel has been added.
