Description

The Old House is a large, detached house, originally a farmhouse, dating partly to the late 17th century with a main range built in the mid-18th century. The building is constructed of coursed, dressed stone with a slightly swept stone slate roof and brick end stacks to the main range. It comprises a large, single main range of two storeys with a lower, earlier "L" shaped wing to the left. The main range features a central projecting section and has three windows on the front elevation, each featuring 2-light stone mullions and transoms with leaded casements. A small, 20th-century single-light window is located to the right of the central window. The ground floor also has two similar windows as the upper floor, with a central, large gabled porch containing a half-glazed inner door. The "L" shaped wing to the left retains one original 2-light stone mullion window on the ground floor, while the rest have been replaced with casements. A small, 20th-century gabled porch marks the junction of the two ranges.
