Description
This small barn, located immediately to the north-west of Wychelm, likely dates from the late 18th century. It is constructed of rubble stone and features a stone slate roof. The north-west side has a flush cart entry with low, slightly cambered beams and no doors. There is an opposed low-level entry with renewed straight timber lintels. The barn consists of four bays and has collar and tie beam trusses with two trenched purlins. The roof is felted beneath the stone slates. Slit vents are present at the apex of each gable end and below the pitch hole, with shutters located to the left of the north-west entry. There are also plugged square vents.
On the south-east corner, there is a small lean-to that projects to the south, which includes a two-bay animal shelter with a tapering rubble column and a small milking bay to the right featuring a stable door. Behind this, there is a garage that was originally a lean-to. Additionally, there is a small single-bay stable to the north-east. This barn is included for its group value.
