Description
Rock House is a detached house located in Maugersbury, dating from the late 17th century to the early 18th century, with additions from the mid and late 19th century. It is constructed from coursed squared and dressed limestone with a stone slate roof and ashlar details. The main body of the house is rectangular and features a mid-19th century granary attached to the right, which may have been built on the foundations of a late 17th to early 18th century single-storey building. To the right of the granary is a late 19th century former store, now converted.
The main body of the house, which dates from the late 17th to early 18th century, is two storeys high with a cellar and has a two-windowed facade. It features a 20th-century door with glazing bars and a 20th-century stopped hood located at the lower right. The former granary in the centre is also two storeys high with an attic, lit by two flat-roofed, two-light dormers, and has a two-windowed facade. The former store on the right is two storeys high with a two-windowed facade as well. The windows throughout the building include original and 19th to 20th century stone-mullioned casements, some with stopped hoods.
The building has former gable end stacks, saddleback gable-end coping with moulded kneelers, and flat gable-end coping at the right-hand end. The interior has not been inspected.
