Description

Sycamore Barn is an 18th-century barn and open-fronted store situated in Maugersbury. It is a group value building, recognised for its contribution to the area's architectural heritage. The barn is constructed of coursed squared and dressed limestone with a corrugated asbestos roof. It has an ‘F’ shaped plan: the main barn extends forward in the centre, with a courtyard to the right, flanked by a two-sided open-fronted store. To the left of the barn are loose boxes with a hayloft above. A plank door is set within a double-width entrance, under a timber lintel, in the left-hand wall of the barn. There is also a pitching door in the gable end at the front. To the left, the store has a plank door and a stable door, both with a pitching window above. The open-fronted store has timber uprights resting on stone padstones. Inside the barn are five bays with original collar and tie beam trusses.
