Description
This is an 18th-century barn located approximately 30 meters south of the Village Farmhouse in Little Barrington Village. The barn is constructed of coursed squared and dressed limestone, topped with a stone slate roof. It has a rectangular plan and features a projecting gabled porch that is off-centre to the left on the north-east side. There is a corrugated-iron lean-to attached to the opposite wall, which is not considered of special interest. The gabled porch has double doors, and there are concrete block steps leading up to a plank door located to the right of the porch. Additionally, there is a single plank door at the right gable end, which is set at a lower level than the barn floor. A small two-light window made from a single stone block is positioned high up within the same gable. The left gable end includes a now-blocked pitching window and two ventilation slits. Inside, the barn consists of four bays with original collar and tie-beam trusses featuring a yolk at the apex. There is an additional bay at the right gable end, which includes a room built into the bank with a loft above.
