Description
No. 23 is a house in a terrace located on the north side of Tetbury Market Place, dating from the mid to late 17th century. The building features a large timber-framed gable that projects slightly onto the street and is faced in render, topped with a Cotswold stone slate roof and without any visible stacks. There is a cross gable on the left side. The house has three storeys and an attic, with two windows on the upper floors that are 12-pane sashes with moulded wooden architraves. The gable includes a fixed 6-pane light with a moulded wooden architrave and one small opening light. The ground floor has a 19th-century shop front that supports a slight jetty, featuring small panelled pilasters in the Corinthian order, a carved foliage frieze, and a central half-glazed door. There is also an additional half-glazed door on the left-hand return.
