Description
No. 4 Market Place is a house in a terrace that has been converted into offices. It dates from the early to mid-18th century and is built of rubble stone with a Cotswold stone slate roof featuring a parapet at the front and a small stone stack on the right. The building has three storeys and two windows: the first floor has 12-pane sash windows, while the second floor has 6-pane sash windows, all with wooden lintels.
On the ground floor, there is a central round-headed doorcase with a plain stone architrave, keystone, and imposts, which frames a radial fanlight above a renewed six-panel door. To the right, there is a square-headed doorway with a plain architrave, large lintel, and keystone, which originally served as a passageway to The Green but now features a 20th-century door. To the left, there is a wide relieving arch that may have originally been a carriage or packhorse arch, now positioned above a 20th-century shop front window.
