Description

Stone Priors is a house located on Priory Street in Cheltenham, built around 1810 to 1830. The building features ashlar stonework over a brick structure with a concealed roof, and it has two storeys above a basement. The façade includes three first-floor windows, all fitted with 6/6 sash windows that have plain reveals and sills.

The entrance is situated to the left and consists of steps leading up to a distyle Doric porch, which is adorned with engaged pilasters, a frieze, a cornice, and a blocking course. The porch contains a five-fielded-panel door, with the upper panels raised and fielded, and the lower panel flush. This door is flanked by sidelights and a fanlight featuring batwing and circle glazing. The basement has an 8/8 sash window and a panelled door with an overlight that includes margin-lights.

Notably, the ground-floor balconies are decorated with an elongated scroll motif and a central scrolled lozenge. The area railings and gate also feature a scrolled lozenge motif. The interior has not been inspected.
