Description
Number 4 is a terrace house with attached area railings, built around 1817. The house features ashlar stonework over a brick structure and has a concealed roof, with a brick party-wall stack on the right side and iron railings.
The exterior consists of two storeys above a basement, with two windows on the first floor. There is a decorative first-floor band. The first floor has six-over-six sash windows, while the ground floor includes a tripartite window with an eight-over-eight sash flanked by two two-over-two sash windows. All windows are set in plain reveals and have sills. The entrance is located on the left and features a six-panel door, where the upper four panels are raised and fielded, and the lower two are flush. This door is topped with an overlight that includes margin-lights. The building is finished with a crowning frieze, cornice, and blocking course. The basement has a four-over-eight sash window and a concealed entrance.
The interior has not been inspected. The area railings are designed with arrow-head motifs and urn finials on the stanchions, supplied by Wheeler. This building forms a group with and is adjacent to the Masonic Lodge.
