Description

The George and Charlotte is a mine captain's house, which has been used as a game keeper's house and is now a residential home. It likely dates from the 18th century and was enlarged in the early to mid-19th century, with some alterations made in the 20th century. The building is constructed from granite and slatestone rubble and features slate roofs with gabled ends. Its layout has developed over time, forming a long range built into the side of a hill. The original structure may have consisted of a two-room plan with a central passage and a rear lateral stack, with a taller building added to the left side.

The right range is two storeys high and has three windows, featuring 12-pane sash windows under the eaves. The ground floor has 16-pane sash windows on both the left and right, with brick segmental heads, and a central door with a segmental head set within a 20th-century porch. To the left, there is a taller two-storey block with two windows; the ground floor includes a 16-pane sash and a two-light casement, both with brick segmental heads, and a slate apron beneath the casement on the right. The first floor has a 16-pane sash and a 4-pane casement. The left gable end has a single-storey lean-to, while the right gable end is blank and set into the slope of the ground, featuring a timber lintel in the wall at the lower ground floor on the left. The interior has not been inspected.
