Description
This barn, located approximately 40 metres east of Dornaford Farmhouse, dates from the 16th or early 17th century. It features cob walls and a gable-ended corrugated iron roof. The barn has a long rectangular plan, with an off-central threshing floor and a separate animal house at the left-hand end. It is a single-storey structure with an asymmetrical front, which includes a cart entrance to the right of centre and a small window to the left of centre. There is a lean-to built against the right-hand side. Inside, the original roof trusses are intact, consisting of side-pegged jointed crucks with a high morticed cranked collar. This barn is a relatively unusual example of an early agricultural building that retains its original roof structure.
