Description
This barn, located approximately 30 metres to the north-west of Forder House, is likely from the 17th century. It features rubble walls, with a slight extension in cob at the left gable end. The thatched roof is currently covered with corrugated iron, hipped on the left side and gabled on the right. The barn has a single cell plan with a loft, although it probably originally extended further to the right. It is a single-storey structure with a cart entrance on the left, where the roof extends in a pentice supported by heavy timbers on either side. There is a narrow opposing doorway on the rear wall, and a first-floor loading doorway at the right gable end. Inside, the barn contains original heavy, roughly chamfered cross beams, with one embedded in the right gable end wall. The roof timbers appear to be original, featuring straight principals with collars set in and pegged to them.
