Description
This is a barn located approximately 35 metres south of Coldridge Barton Farmhouse, likely built in the 18th century. It features exposed cob on rubble footings and has a corrugated iron roof, which was originally thatch. The barn is long and faces the farmyard to the north, with central opposing doors leading to the threshing floor. The front is symmetrical, although the right end has been partially obscured by a later farm building and shows some damage. The front wall is low and consists of 7 bays, with plain buttresses on both the front and back supporting the trusses. Each side of the central door has a narrow ventilator in the centre bay, with the left one retaining its original timber frame. The left end also has a ventilator above a loading hatch. The roof is tall, steeply pitched, and half-hipped at both ends, featuring a 7-bay structure supported by A-frame trusses with pegged lap-jointed collars and X-apexes.
