Description
The Post Office is a house, likely originally two houses, dating from the 18th century with 19th-century alterations. It is constructed of plastered cob or rubble, with stone rubble stacks topped with 19th and 20th-century brick, and features a thatched roof. The building has a five-room range facing north, with a right (west) end stack and two axial stacks. It is probable that the two rooms on the right once formed a separate house, while the adjoining two rooms formed another, with a stables or cartshed at the left end, which is now a garage. The building is two storeys high and has an irregular five-window front. The left end has a symmetrical two-window arrangement of 19th-century 16-pane sashes, with a contemporary central six-panel door. To the immediate left is a bay containing large 20th-century iron-framed casements, and a small window to the left of these appears to block a former doorway. There are 20th-century garage doors at the left end, and the roof is hipped at both ends. The interior was not available for inspection at the time of the survey.
