Description
This barn, located approximately 40 metres south-east of Westacott Barton, dates back to the 17th century. It features plastered cob walls and a corrugated iron roof that is hipped at the left end and gabled to the right. The barn has a long rectangular plan with two threshing floors. Originally a single storey with a loft, it has an asymmetrical front that includes cart entrances to the threshing floors at the centre and left of centre, both framed with 17th-century chamfered wooden frames. There is a wide doorway at the right-hand end and a smaller one towards the left end. To the left of the central cart entrance, there is a small thatched lean-to against the front wall. Inside, four original roof trusses remain, consisting of straight principals with threaded purlins and collars halved on with notched joints.
