Description
Higher Nichols Nymett is a farmhouse that likely dates back to the 16th century, with alterations made in the 17th century and modern updates in the late 20th century. The building features rendered cob and stone rubble walls and has a thatched roof that is hipped at the left end and gabled at the rear of the wing. There are two rendered axial stacks. The current layout is L-shaped, comprising three rooms in the main range and one large room in the wing at the rear of the right-hand end, which is heated by a stack that runs parallel to the main range. The other axial stack is located between the two left-hand rooms.
The exterior is two storeys high and has an asymmetrical front with three windows, along with a two-window front on the outer face of the wing behind the right-hand end. All windows are late 20th-century wood casements with leaded panes, featuring two, three, and four lights. There is a late 20th-century open-fronted thatched porch at the left-hand end, which has a part-glazed door behind it. The wing has late 20th-century glazed double doors approximately at the center of its outer face.
Inside, the farmhouse has heavy beamed ceilings and 17th-century fireplaces. It is also believed to contain medieval roof timbers.
