Description
The barn located immediately to the southwest of Upcott Farmhouse is a 18th-century structure that features a shippon and linhay. It is constructed with cob and stone rubble walls and has a gabled corrugated iron roof on the right, which is hipped at the left end. The layout includes a threshing barn on the left and a shippon on the right, above which there is an open-fronted hay tallet. The building is one storey tall, with a loft. There is a cart entrance to the barn, positioned left of centre, which has a shallow porch. To the right, there are three doors for the shippon or animal shed, with a small window on either side of the right-hand door. Above the left-hand door, there is a loading hatch, and to the right, the four-bay open-fronted hay tallet is divided by wooden posts. This barn is part of a group that includes an important early farmhouse.
