Description
Little Beare Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the late 17th century, with alterations made in the 20th century. The building features rendered rubble and cob walls, topped with a thatched roof that is hipped at the rear wing and gable ended elsewhere. There are two brick gable end stacks on the front range and a brick lateral stack on the side of the rear wing. The farmhouse has an L-shaped plan, although the original layout is not entirely clear due to the earlier features present in the rear wing. The front range consists of two rooms, each heated by an end stack, and is two storeys high. The front has a symmetrical arrangement with two windows, which are late 20th century PVC 2-light casements, and a central PVC door beneath a thatched door hood. The wing extends behind the right-hand end of the front range and has a 19th century 4-light casement on the first floor of its end wall. The interior was inaccessible at the time of survey but is noted to contain a chamfered ceiling beam in the rear wing.
