Description
This is an outbuilding located approximately 5 meters north of Chaltaborough. It dates from the 17th century, with a 19th-century extension. The original 17th-century structure is made of cob and stone and features a mid-19th-century gabled pantile roof. The 19th-century extension is constructed from coursed slatestone rubble and has a corrugated asbestos roof. The building is L-shaped, with the gable end of the 17th-century range on the left side of the mid-19th-century extension. The gable end of the 17th-century section has timber lintels over both the loft and lower doors. The 19th-century extension includes a three-light window above a concrete lintel over the doorway. Inside, the 17th-century building has an A-frame truss with a notched apex and a pegged collar. The pantiles show impressions indicating they were made in Bridgewater, Somerset. This building is included for its group value.
