Description
The Thatched House Public House is a building that originated as a house in the early 17th century. It features colourwashed render over stone and cob, with a half-hipped thatch roof. The building has two rendered stone lateral stacks at the front and a stone lateral stack finished in mid-19th century brick at the rear right, along with a ridge stack of stone finished in brick. It has a four-unit plan with a through-passage to the right of the central hall and a rear outshut. The structure is two stories tall and has a four-window range. There are flat rendered arches and thatched hoods over a late 19th century four-panelled door and two plank doors, as well as late 19th century horned plate-glass sashes. Inside, the building features chamfered beams and mid-18th century panelled doors. The central room includes a cream hob and a chamfered bressummer over an open fireplace at the front. The first floor has not been inspected but is likely to be of interest.
