Description
Cockington Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the mid to late 18th century, with some alterations made in the late 19th century. The building features colourwashed render over coursed slatestone rubble, with some cob, and has a gabled slate roof from the late 19th century, complete with bracketed eaves. There are rendered brick stacks at the ends and a ridge stack, with a bread oven projection on the left side.
The farmhouse has a two-unit plan with a central staircase and an additional service wing to the left. It stands two storeys high and has a symmetrical three-window range. Carved brackets support a flat hood over a late 19th-century six-panelled door, which has two glazed panels and is set in a beaded architrave. There are flat rendered arches above late 19th-century six-pane horned plate-glass sash windows. At the rear, there is a stair turret and a late 19th-century outshut.
The one-unit service range to the left features two late 19th-century two-light casements with glazing bars, as well as a one-storey extension that projects from the front wall. Inside, the staircase, dado panelling, and fireplaces are notable, and the service wing to the left has chamfered beams.
