Description

Hilliers is a house dating from the early to mid-18th century. It is constructed of plaster-covered cob walls with a half-hipped thatched roof. Rendered rubble stacks with brick shafts project at each end, and there's a similar rear lateral stack. The layout features principal rooms at the front, divided by a central entrance hall, with narrower service rooms at the rear and a kitchen to the left, heated by the rear lateral stack.

The front elevation is symmetrical with three windows, likely originally 3-light windows, although they now have 20th-century replacement leaded lights. A late 20th-century thatched roof porch with French windows sits centrally. Inside, the kitchen fireplace has a large wooden mantelpiece and surround, possibly original. Panelled shutters are fitted to a front window, and a circa early 19th-century classical chimneypiece survives in the left-hand room.
