Description
This is a 17th-century barn located approximately 8 meters north-northwest of Great Huxhill farmhouse in Weare Giffard. The barn features rendered stone and cob construction with a gabled corrugated iron roof. It is positioned along a slope, with storage bays on the left (west) side and a shippon at the lower end on the right. There are timber lintels above two 20th-century doors, an inserted doorway at the rear of the shippon, and a muck-hole in the right gable. Inside, the barn has a four-bay roof, with mid-19th century collar trusses on the left and a 17th-century principal-rafter truss with a ridge purlin set in a notched apex on the right.
