Description

Woolridge Farmhouse is a former farmhouse dating from the early 17th century, possibly with earlier origins. It features plastered cob walls and a gable-ended thatch roof, with a rendered rubble axial stack. The building has a three-room plan with a baffle entry located in front of the axial stack, positioned between the left-hand room, which is likely the hall, and an unheated service room to the right. Adjacent to the farmhouse is a long barn, which is probably an 18th-century addition.

The exterior of the farmhouse is two storeys high with an asymmetrical front that has four windows, featuring small-paned two-light casements from the 19th and early 20th centuries. There is a slight projection to the left of centre in front of the baffle entry, which has a small single 20th-century light on the first floor. A 20th-century gabled porch with a plank door is located in front of this projection. At the right-hand end, there is a straight joint between the house and the long barn, which has a corrugated iron roof. The barn includes a single light 20th-century window to the left and a three-light 20th-century casement in the blocked cart entrance, flanked by two rubble buttresses, with a doorway to its right.

Inside, the hall and the left-hand room feature substantial cross beams, with the beams in the hall being chamfered. There is an open fireplace in the hall with a chamfered wooden lintel. The roof timbers may also be of interest.
