Description
Venstone Cottage is a cottage dating from the early 18th century, with alterations and an addition made in the 19th century. It features plastered cob walls and a gable-ended thatched roof. There are two gable-end stacks; the left-hand stack is made of brick, while the right-hand stack is a projecting rendered rubble with a brick shaft.
The cottage has a two-room plan, with both rooms heated, although the left-hand stack may have been inserted later. A 19th-century outshut has been added along the rear wall, which has a catslide roof.
The exterior is two storeys high and has a symmetrical front with two windows. The windows are 19th-century small-paned three-light casements. There is a central 19th-century six-panelled door located under a gabled doorhood. The interior was inaccessible at the time of the survey.
