Description

Little Park Farmhouse is a farmhouse that dates back to the 17th century and was extended in the 18th and 20th centuries. It features plastered rubble and cob walls, with a thatched roof that is hipped at the left end and gabled at the right. The building has one brick and one rendered rubble axial stack, along with a projecting plastered rubble stack at the right gable end.

Originally, the farmhouse had a three-room-and-through-passage plan, with the lower end likely to the left. However, the passage has been removed, and the internal arrangement has been significantly altered. The hall is heated by the axial stack, while the inner room is heated by the gable end stack. There may have been an integral stair projection at the rear of the hall, and it is likely that the left-hand end was extended in the 18th century to create a separate cottage with a fireplace.

The exterior of the farmhouse is two storeys high and has a long asymmetrical front with nine windows, mostly featuring two-light 20th-century casements. The right side of the house is taller, with first-floor windows that have top opening lights. At the center, there are double 20th-century glazed doors with a large single light window above, and to the left on the ground floor, there is a 20th-century nine-pane sash window. The left-hand end of the house is a late 20th-century rebuild made of concrete blocks. At the rear, there is a rectangular stair projection located to the left of center.

Inside, the farmhouse has open fireplaces with roughly chamfered wooden lintels. The 17th-century roof trusses remain, consisting of substantial straight principals with trenched purlins and collars halved on with notched joints.
