Description

Monkokehampton Mill is a mill that is currently used for milling animal feeds, dating from around the mid-19th century. It features stone rubble walls with brick dressings and a hipped slate roof. The building has an L-shaped plan, with a wing projecting from the left-hand end and mill wheels located against the right-hand end wall. There is a lower addition from the late 19th century at the front of the left-hand end, along with 20th-century additions to the right.

The exterior consists of four storeys, with an L-shaped front that has blocked window openings on the inner face of the left wing and a two-window front to the right, where some windows are also blocked. The right side has a two-window facade as well. All window openings feature segmental brick arches and the original overlapping paned two-light windows. At the top of the front, there is an overhanging corrugated iron hoist house. The later lower range at the front of the left-hand end and the 20th-century corrugated iron sheds in front of the right-hand range are also noted. The mill contains two overshot wheels, each driving two pairs of millstones. Inside, the mill is fully operational, with all its machinery intact.
