Description
Castle House is a late 18th century or early 19th century building, with a garden front added around 1820. It currently operates as a nursing home and is said to have been constructed using stone from nearby castle ruins. The building is square and two stories high, finished in stucco. It features sash windows and an ogee bracket cornice. The lower storey of the garden front projects and includes four tall sash windows with glazing bars. At the center, there is a recessed Greek Doric porch with fluted columns and pilasters in antis, along with guttae on the entablature. Above the porch is a deep balcony adorned with a decorative iron balustrade and a canopy supported by slender cast iron columns. Castle House is part of a group that includes Nos 2 to 8 (even), Nos 18, 20, and Nos 5 to 13 (odd), as well as Nos 21 to 25 (odd) on the west side.
