Description

This building is a barn located approximately 15 meters west of Howley Farmhouse, dating from the 17th century, with mid-19th century additions for a stable and cartshed. The structure is built of cob and stone and features a gabled corrugated iron roof. The barn has a five-bay plan that includes a threshing floor, with a timber lintel above the central doorway. Inside, there is an A-frame roof supported by pegged collars and notched apexes, with three trusses connected to timbers set in the rear wall. To the right, there is a lean-to cartshed, and to the left, the stable has timber lintels over the loft and stable doors, along with stone steps leading to the loft door in the left gable end.
