Description
Dotheridge Farmhouse is a farmhouse built around 1740 to 1750, with a rear outshut added around 1835 and late 19th-century alterations. The building features colourwashed render over cob and stone, a gabled slate roof from the late 19th century, and brick end stacks from the same period. It has a three-unit plan with a rear outshut and stands two storeys high with a symmetrical three-window range.
The entrance, located to the left of centre, has a late 19th-century four-panelled door, two of which are glazed, and is sheltered by a trellised porch. Above the door, there is a flat rendered arch over a late 19th-century four-pane plate-glass sash window, along with similar six-pane sashes. To the right, a late 19th-century bay has a four-pane sash window above a French window.
Inside, there is a bressummer over an 18th-century open fireplace to the left, with cast iron grates, and a late 19th-century staircase located in a narrow central hall. The roof features A-frame trusses with pegged collars and is dated 1745, while the lean-to roof over the rear outshut is painted with the date 1835. This farmhouse is situated on the site of a house that has been recorded in deeds since 1254, with the deed currently in the owner's possession.
