Description

Fry’s Cottage is a late 17th and early 18th century cottage, with a late 19th century extension to the right. It is constructed of colourwashed render over coursed slatestone rubble. The roof is gabled, with asbestos sheeting on the left-hand side and a late 19th century slate roof on the right; a stone ridge stack replaces what was formerly a right-end stack of the original 17th century house. The cottage was originally a single-unit plan but was extended to a two-unit plan in the late 19th century. It has two storeys and a two-window front. A late 19th century plank door is located to the right of centre, set in a beaded frame. The windows are late 19th century two-light casements with flat rendered arches above. Inside, there are boxed beams, and the bases of A-frame trusses are visible.
