Description
66 Fore Street is an early 19th-century house located on the south side of Hartland's Fore Street. It features stone rubble walls and a gable-ended slate roof adorned with late 19th-century crested ridge tiles. There are late 19th-century brick stacks at both ends of the building. The house has a double depth plan, consisting of two rooms wide with a central stair hall. The principal rooms are situated at the front, while the service rooms are at the rear.
The exterior is two storeys high and presents a symmetrical three-window front, showcasing original 12-pane hornless sash windows, likely accompanied by 19th-century shutters on either side. The central entrance features a six-panel door with a semi-circular fanlight above, framed by a door case with pilasters on either side and a dentilled cornice above. Additionally, there are projecting rubble pilasters at both ends of the house. Although the interior was inaccessible during the survey, it is expected to contain original joinery, including the staircase, panelled doors, chimneypieces, shutters, and possibly plasterwork.
