Description

A house and store, likely originating in the 17th century but substantially altered in the 20th century. The building is constructed of rendered stone with rubble walls and has a gable ended roof covered in natural slate. It features a large axial chimney stack built of squared stone rubble, including a drip-course and a tapering cap. The original plan may have been for a three-room house, possibly with a through-passage, though its precise layout is now uncertain. The axial stack originally heated the central room, likely the hall, while the left-hand room is now used as a store. A lean-to addition was added to the rear in the 19th or early 20th century. The front has an asymmetrical facade with a 4-window arrangement. The upper floor has one small-paned casement window, and the rest are likely 20th-century replacements featuring 9 and 12 panes. A 6-pane door is located to the right of centre, and a 20th-century plank door is situated to the left, with a nearby window lacking glazing bars. The interior was inaccessible during the survey, but it may contain a 17th-century fireplace and features such as ceiling beams.
