Description

The cartshed range at Kilbury Manor, likely built around 1845, is a Grade II listed structure located on the northeast side of Colston Road in Buckfastleigh. This building, originally used for carts and stabling horses, has been partly converted into a holiday cottage while also serving as storage. Constructed from local grey limestone rubble, the roof features a mix of asbestos slate and corrugated iron.

The range is positioned at right angles to the main block of Kilbury Manor house and projects forward, likely facing a farmyard that once existed in front of the house. The left end of the range has been incorporated into the manor house and is listed with it. A cross passage remains between the house and the former agricultural wing.

The exterior of the building is lofted and has an asymmetrical front. The left side features a central recessed 20th-century door flanked by windows and two 20th-century rooflights. The right side, which has a slightly taller tin roof, includes three pairs of double doors and a gabled hayloft to the left. Inside, the roof trusses exhibit a 19th-century character.
