Description
Springfield is a house dating from around 1850, as noted by the owner. It is built from stuccoed stone rubble and features a natural slate roof with stacks that have rendered shafts and cornices. The house has a double-depth, south-facing layout with a central entrance that leads to the stair. There is a single-storey outbuilding attached to the northeast.
The exterior is two storeys high, with deep eaves and a boarded eaves soffit. The front is symmetrical with three bays, including a central, recessed, half-glazed, panelled front door. The outer windows on both the ground and first floors are 16-pane hornless sashes, while the centre window on the first floor is a 12-pane sash. The windows retain fascias for sunblinds. The rear elevation features a modern single-storey lean-to conservatory and retains some original sash windows.
Inside, the house preserves original joinery, including doors, doorcases, and a stick baluster stair with a mahogany handrail.
