House. c1830 with later alterations. Stuccoed and blocked out; slate roof; stacks with rendered shafts with platbands. Plan: double-depth plan main block, 2 rooms wide with central entrance facing stair. Front right service wing at right angles is now a separate house. EXTERIOR: 2 storeys. Moulded eaves cornice. Hornless sash windows. Symmetrical 3-bay front with central Tuscan porch with cornice. Round-headed doorway with panelled reveals, panelled door and plain fanlight. 16-pane sashes in outer bays, 12-pane first-floor sash. The left return has a 2-storey canted bay with a hipped roof and plate-glass sashes. INTERIOR: original joinery survives; original stick baluster stair. Ground-floor chimneypieces replaced. Subsidiary features: front iron railings with spear finials. Historical note: said to have been the house of the owner of the papermill on the opposite side of the road.
