Description

Kilbury House is a house dating from around 1830, with later alterations. It has a stuccoed and blocked exterior, a slate roof, and stacks with rendered shafts featuring platbands. The building has a double-depth plan, consisting of a main block that is two rooms wide with a central entrance leading to the stairs. There is a service wing on the front right that is now a separate house.

The house is two storeys tall and features a moulded eaves cornice and hornless sash windows. The symmetrical front has three bays with a central Tuscan porch that includes a cornice. The round-headed doorway has panelled reveals, a panelled door, and a plain fanlight. The outer bays have 16-pane sashes, while the first floor has a 12-pane sash. On the left side, there is a two-storey canted bay with a hipped roof and plate-glass sashes.

Inside, original joinery is preserved, including an original stick baluster staircase, although the ground-floor chimneypieces have been replaced. The house also features front iron railings with spear finials. It is historically noted to have been the residence of the owner of the papermill located on the opposite side of the road.
