Description
Virginia Cottage is a farmhouse that has been partially converted into a cottage, dating from the 16th century or earlier. It is constructed of rendered cob with rubble footings and features a corrugated iron roof that it shares with Rose Cottage, along with a rubble stack adjacent to the gable end of Eastcotts. The building has a one-room plan and a two-window front that is closely spaced on the first floor, featuring early 20th-century, two-light timber casements, with six panes in the left window and twelve panes in the right. On the ground floor to the left, there is a four-panel top glazed door with a half dome niche above, which is said to be a bee bole. To the right of the door, there is a three-light casement with a narrow centre light. The interior has not been inspected, but it is reported to have originally included a newel stair beside the hearth, which has since been removed. The cottage is included for its group value.
