Description

East Cottage is a house dating from the 17th century or earlier. It has walls of rendered cob with a dry slate roof, originally thatched, and brick chimneys on the gable ends. The house is built on a hillside, with a three-room plan following the contours of the land. It is two stories high, and the front has an irregular arrangement of four windows that curve towards the upper end, with a steep slope down to the right. The windows are 20th-century casements. A four-panel door with a corrugated iron gabled hood is to the left of the right-hand window. A shallow buttress is positioned between them. A further door with an adjacent window is located at the far left. Internal features are mostly obscured, but the original roof structure remains, along with chamfered cross beams.
