Description

The Laurels is a house dating from the 17th century, located in Ladock. It is constructed of painted rubble stone and cob, with a thatched roof and brick gable chimneys. Originally, the house followed a cross-passage, three-roomed plan. The window openings are irregular. It was initially three windows wide. One window, now a door, is obscured by an outshut, and another door is partly hidden by a 1984 outshut. A casement window with 16 panes and a single inserted window are located to the left of the middle window. An external chimney breast is present on the right gable, and two 1984 windows are visible at the rear. Inside, a post-and-panel partition separates the rooms on the right side. The roof features cambered oak collars pegged to oak roof principals, with thatch secured to barrens nailed to roof trusses.
