Description

This early 19th-century milestone, erected by the Exeter Turnpike Trust, is located 13 meters west of Fairlight. It is a free-standing stone with a rectangular base that tapers towards the top, featuring a triangular shaft above. The sides facing the street have inscriptions indicating the distances to Exeter (4 miles) and Chudleigh (6 miles), while the base shows the distance to London (180 miles). Additionally, there is a benchmark on top of the base along with other marks. The inscriptions are highlighted in black paint.
