Description

This early 19th-century milestone, erected by the Exeter Turnpike Trust, is located 7 meters northwest of 16 Church Road. It is a free-standing stone with a rectangular base that tapers towards the top, featuring a triangular shaft above. The street-facing sides of the shaft are inscribed with the distances to Exeter (1 mile) and Chudleigh (9 miles), while the base indicates the distance to London (177 miles). Additionally, there are other decorative marks on the stone. The milestone is positioned within the wall in front of No 16 Church Road.
