Description

These are two adjoining cottages, likely dating from the 18th century. They are probably built of cob and stone rubble with whitewashed and rendered elevations, with a corrugated iron roof on the right-hand cottage (number 7) and a slate roof on the left-hand cottage (number 8). A stack with a brick shaft is located between the two cottages.

The cottages were originally planned as symmetrical and double depth, with four rooms. They have a two-window range to the front of each cottage, with a central front door to each. The windows are casements with two or three lights and glazing bars. The interiors have not been inspected.

The cottages form part of a row known as The College, which stands on a raised pavement above Fordland Brook and is considered a picturesque group.
