Description
This is a house with a shop front, dating from the early to mid-19th century, with alterations in the later 19th century. It is located on Fore Street in Bishopsteignton. The building is likely constructed of stone rubble, whitened and covered with stucco, and has a concrete tile roof with hipped ends, and a projecting stack on the left side. The plan is double-depth, with the house entrance positioned at the far right and a shop door located centrally next to a shop window. The front is asymmetrical. The upper floor has two 20th-century, 2-light casement windows. The ground floor features an original shop front with thin pilasters and an entablature, containing two 6-pane shop windows and a doorway in between, above which is a rectangular overlight and a 20th-century half-glazed door. A pilastered doorway leading to the house is integrated with the shop front, featuring a rectangular overlight and a 19th-century panelled door. The interior has not been inspected. The building is a very prominent feature of Fore Street, positioned on a raised pavement.
