Description
New Barn Cottage is a cottage that dates from the 17th century, possibly with earlier origins, and features a barn extension from the 19th century that was converted in the late 20th century. The cottage has rendered cob walls and a thatched roof, which is hipped at the left-hand end and gabled at the right. There is a rendered rubble gable stack at the right end and a small brick shaft at the left end. The original layout consisted of two rooms, with one heated room on the right that has a gable end stack and a later stack at the left end. The cottage is two storeys high and has an asymmetrical two-window front, featuring 20th-century two-light casements with glazing bars on the first floor. On the ground floor, there is a 20th-century French window to the left and a part-glazed door to the right. The former barn, which is built partly into the hillside, includes three dormer windows and a door at the left end. The interior has not been inspected.
