Description
Park Cottage is a detached house built in the mid-19th century. It features painted stucco and a slate roof with a stack on the right gable end, and is designed in an L-shape. The house has two storeys and a two-window range. It showcases tall casement windows with chamfered lintels and jambs, with four panes in each leaf; the first floor has two-light windows, while the ground floor has three-light windows. The forward left wing includes 20th-century bargeboards, a finial, and a pendant, while a similar gabled half dormer on the right retains some ornamentation on the left-hand bargeboard. There is an enclosed lean-to porch at the angle, featuring a four-light window with trefoil-headed panes at the front, along with a triangular fretted glazed overlight and margin panes above a half-glazed door on the right side. The interior has not been inspected. This house is a modest example of the Picturesque style and is part of the Courtenay Park development, which was laid out in 1854.
