Description

This is a mid-19th century house, altered in the late 19th century, situated within the Courtenay Park development laid out in 1854. The house is constructed of stucco with a shallow-pitched, wide-eaved slate roof, hipped to the left, and includes a stack with a modillion cornice on the right return, and a rendered stack to the left. It has a double-depth plan, with a forward wing to the right.

The exterior has a 3-window front, and the entrance is on the left return. The ground floor features banded pilasters, while the first floor has rusticated quoins. There's an eaves band, a moulded sill string course and a plinth. A 6/6-pane sash window is on the first floor left, with a 2/2 pane window in the centre. The window to the right wing is semicircular-arched with radial glazing bars, an eared and shouldered archivolt. Below this is a large, late 19th century canted bay with plate-glass sashes, cornice and blocking course. The ground-floor sash windows are without architraves. A verandah with a swept copper roof, supported by slender iron columns, fills the angle of the L-plan; the left side of the verandah is glazed with small panes, resting on the first-floor sill string. The interior has not been inspected.
